The Path of the Heart: Living the Seven Virtues of Mary

Do you truly long for peace of heart? Do you want to discover how holiness can become a part of everyday life?

Whenever I hear such questions, I feel tempted to respond: What a silly question! Is there anyone who would not want peace in their heart, especially someone who has already tasted it and can distinguish God’s peace from mere quietness or temporary calm?

So today I will ask you: are you ready to discover the seven virtues of Mary that can transform your life?

We often say that the heart is like a garden. In my own spiritual journey, this image of the heart as a garden has become very meaningful. Today, I want to show you how the seven virtues of Mary can breathe new life into the garden of your heart and lead you on the path to peace and holiness.

In the garden of your heart, you will find everything you need. It is a place where your relationship with God and with Mother Miriam can grow deeper and more intimate.

I am not speaking about self-improvement because such a thing does not truly exist in Christianity, but about walking with Mary toward Jesus, whose power is made perfect in our weakness.

He offers us His gentle yoke in exchange for our own, so often heavy, burdened with the worries and struggles of everyday life - for “His yoke is easy, and His burden is light.”

There’s no need to search for tools outside yourself, because what you need to find your way to Him has already been given in Psalm 42:7

“Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.”

Especially in the 21st century, we need a good guide, a mentor. So why not walk with Mary, Mother Miriam? Why not ask Her to help pull out the weeds from your heart, which are abundant – just as they are in every garden? Surprisingly, even these weeds help us grow in virtue. Jesus spoke of them in His parables.

🌿In the parable of the sower, the seed falls on different soils – on the path, on rock, among thorns… And the thorns represent worldly worries, wealth, and the pleasures of life that choke the Word of God and prevent it from bearing fruit (Mt 13:22).

🌿In the parable of the weeds among the wheat, the evil one sows weeds, but the Lord commands patience until harvest, because pulling them out too early could damage the good grain (Mt 13:24-30).

What if you don’t have to walk this path alone?

Sometimes life overwhelms us. We feel lost, burdened, as if we are walking through the shadows all on our own. But Mother Miriam is always there. She leans close with a loving heart, reaching out her hand, inviting you into Her embrace, offering Her own Heart, and guiding you softly toward Jesus.

"Come to Me, my dearest child.

Give Me your heart, and I will give you Mine.

Do not fear, I am here with you.

Step gently with Me, one moment at a time, and I will show you the path to Jesus.

Trust Me, and your heart will bloom with the peace and joy you seek. You are never alone. I am always here, beside you, ready to lead you lovingly."

Can you hear these words in the quiet of your heart?

Could you truly believe that they are meant only for you?

Today, they are spoken to you just to you.

Cassia’s Journey to the 7 Virtues of Mary

Let me tell you about C assia’s journey. For years, she tried to remove, to tear out the weeds of fear, doubt, suspicion, anger… all the stumbling blocks she kept tripping over. Of course, she tried to do it alone because that’s how she had learned. Finally, she dared to take Mother Miriam's outstretched hand and went. She walked Her paths slowly, step by step. Often she stumbled and forgot she wasn’t alone, but gradually she overcame her old patterns of thinking and habits.

Cassia:

I hate it when people talk to me about holiness and all these ways to overcome myself, and it doesn’t work for me! We often talk about virtues, but do we really know how they look in everyday life - in traffic jams, raising children, moments of fear, or at the dinner table? Who has time for that?

Miriam:

Virtue is not about appearing pious, My child. It’s about becoming whole. It’s a hidden strength that transforms the way we see, speak, and love.

Virtue unifies you within - it removes inner division (when you think one thing, say another, and feel something else), making you authentic and harmonious rather than fragmented or pretending.

Your vocation is motherhood, but you cannot raise children alone! I am here to help you.

Just as you teach your children to do things well, and they don’t listen, they only get into trouble. Notice, and relate this to our relationship, you and Me. I know what can help you.

Cassia looked at Miriam, blushing crimson and embarrassed. She understood the allusion immediately.

Miriam:

I am your Mother of Virtues. I bring this prayer because the West is in special need of moral guidance.

The Chaplet of the Seven Virtues is a spiritual path that brings peace, clarity, and joy - not by doing more, but by knowing Me and becoming like Me in understanding, love, attitude toward people and God, and living your vocation to the fullest…

Come, Cassia, I will guide you along the paths I walked, so you can discover how to make these 7 virtues a part of your life. See, on every path there is a signpost - a virtue you can practice with Me.

The 7 Virtues of Mary in Practice: How Good Qualities of the Heart Help Us Grow in Peace and Closeness to God

1. Faith - Trusting When You Can’t See 🤍

Why it matters:

I believed the impossible. I believed the words of the Angel that the invisible God would become flesh in my womb. I reflected on His words and trusted. I answered,

“Fiat” – let it be done to me.

How to live it today:

  • Speak truth to the doubts and lies you hear in your heart or from others.

  • Pause before reacting.

  • Pray before panic: “Jesus, I trust You”, even when fear rises, and lies seem true.

Anchor :

Place a small cross or sacred image in a visible spot - your wallet, mirror, or car.

2. Hope - Holding On When You Want to Give Up🤍

Why it matters:

I always trusted God the Father, and I held on to hope against hope - through poverty, exile, the Cross, and the sufferings of the world, allowing His faithfulness and peace to fill my heart, no matter how dark the path seemed.

I was not a shallow optimist, repeating mantras in which I did not believe. I see how you struggle. Cassia, my child, you repeat phrases because someone told you, “fake it until you make it.” And what does it bring you? Can you find true peace in your heart that way?

My hope has always rested in God’s promises. I did not place My own will above His, My child. I always trusted that God is faithful to His promises even when life becomes difficult and complicated.

How to live it today:

Each morning, name one concrete thing you will do today with God – not “against what happens to you”, but together with Him in the life you actually have:

  • “Today, while with my children, I will ask Jesus to guide me in patience.”

  • “Today at work, I will do one small task as if Jesus were doing it – with love and calm.”

  • “Today, even if I am tired, I will say to God: ‘I am here with You.’”

It’s not about grand plans. It’s about one small, real thing that you do with Him, not alone, against the difficulties that come your way. Don’t confuse delay with refusal.

If something you’re asking for hasn’t come yet, it doesn’t mean God is saying “no.” Sometimes He is simply saying, “not yet.”

Anchor practice:

 When discouraged, whisper Miriam’s words:

“The Almighty has done great things for me.”

Keep a gratitude journal – hope grows when you name what God has already done.

3. Charity - Loving When It Costs Something🤍

Why it matters:

I gave Jesus to the world and stayed with Him until the end. To my child, I poured out myself in hidden, steady love – day after day, in the smallest gestures, without seeking recognition or gratitude. There were no grand words or loud deeds, only a quiet, constant presence: holding Jesus in my arms when He cried at night, baking bread for Joseph, cleaning the house in Nazareth, standing under the Cross when everyone else fled.

I gave Myself completely - body, heart, time, strength - without calculation, without expecting a reward on earth. That’s why so many call me “just an ordinary girl from Nazareth.” Yet the world still struggles to see Me as the Immaculate One, but My heart remains open, full of love, ready to guide every soul who turns to Me.

My love was like water slowly but steadily nourishing the garden - invisible to the eyes of the world, yet full of life and power, flowing directly from My “yes” to the Father.

How to live it today:

Do one unnoticed act of love each day. Don’t wait to feel it. Love anyway. Choose to see the good in someone difficult.

Anchor practice:

In the evening, ask: “Where did I love well today?” and “Where can I grow higher tomorrow?”

“But to you who are listening, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.”

(Luke 6:27)

4. Humility - Knowing Who You Are and Who God Is🤍

Why it matters:

I did not put Myself at the center, and God exalted Me above all women.

True humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.

How to live it today:

  • Say “thank you” instead of rejecting compliments.

  • Sometimes let others be right.

  • Accept corrections without defence.

Anchor practice:

Repeat Mary’s line from the Magnificat:

“He has looked with favour on His lowly servant.”

5. Patience - Enduring Without Complaining🤍

Why it matters:

I waited. For Joseph’s understanding. For Jesus’ growth. For the meaning of the Cross. I did not demand quick results – I remained faithful in waiting.

How to live it today:

Instead of sighing loudly, grumbling under your breath, or letting out frustrated groans, simply pause:

  • Standing in a long line → remain silent and offer your waiting to God.

  • Child spills blocks or juice → calmly clean and pray internally instead of complaining.

  • Someone cuts you off in traffic → remain silent and pray for them.

Don’t interrupt when someone explains at length. Treat delays as part of God’s plan.

Anchor practice:

In every long line or delay, quietly pray: “I wait with Mary.”

"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."

Romans 12,12

6. Perseverance – Staying When It Would Be Easier to Quit🤍

Why it matters:

I did not turn away - neither in exile in Egypt, nor in the quiet of Nazareth, nor at the foot of the Cross. Perseverance is love that endures despite hardships. It is patience and faithfulness to God. It is also remaining in goodness and in faith, whether others see us or appreciate us - or not.

How to live it today:

  • Finish the good you started.

  • Stay with the person who drifts away.

  • Remind yourself: this time has meaning, even if I cannot see it.

Anchor practice:

Tape this to your mirror:

“Blessed is she who believed.”

7. Obedience - Saying Yes Without Delay🤍

Why it matters:

My obedience was not mechanical. It came from trust and the depth of the heart. I gave God my body, plans, and future.

How to live it today:

Act on what God has already told you, even if it feels small.

Keep your word.

Choose virtue even when no one else is.

Anchor practice:

Every morning, say:

“Be it done to me according to Your Word.”

Why These Seven Virtues? - Mary speaks to Cassia

Because they reflect not only My path, but above all the Heart of Jesus Christ. Every virtue will lead you from fear to peace, from ego to freedom, from control to joyful surrender.

Cassia:

Looking at You today, Miriam, I finally hear, I finally understand! I see in You not just a model of holiness. I see a map to true, deep happiness - not dependent on external success, but on inner transformation.

Miriam:

Yes, Cassia. Exactly so. Start with a small step each day. Choose one virtue. Live it for a week.

You don’t need to take on the whole world at once. It’s better to complete a small task with love and care than to start big projects that overwhelm you and stay unfinished.

Every little step matters if it’s done with heart and patience. 🤍 And let Me walk with you.
