Gratitude Hidden in the Ordinary
Some people express gratitude in songs or in public words. St. Faustina, though, teaches another kind: the silent, consistent kind—woven into the daily fabric of life. In Diary 224(4), she writes:
“I will show my gratitude unceasingly to God for His great mercy towards me, never forgetting the favours He has bestowed on me, especially the grace of a vocation.”
This kind of gratitude to God in everyday life is not a moment, but a mission. It’s remembering with our lives—not just our thoughts. It’s the discipline of not forgetting.

The Grace to Remember
The psalmist says,
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits” (Psalm 103:2).
St. Faustina lived this verse not just in times of joy, but especially in times of interior darkness. Her remembrance became her offering.
Every stitch in her habit, every prayer whispered in the corridor, every note of suffering became a hymn of gratitude.
Gratitude in Vocation
Vocation isn’t only about what we do—it’s about how we remember the One who called us. Faustina saw her calling not as a task, but a treasure. Gratitude, for her, was faithfulness. It meant choosing love over complaint, presence over escape.
In Scivias, Hildegard of Bingen also described a soul in union with God’s will as “a garden that gives back fruit in due season.” Gratitude makes us fruitful, even when life feels small.
Reflection for the Heart:
💜 How do I remember God’s mercy in my daily life?
💜 What graces have I forgotten to thank Him for?
💜 How can I live out my gratitude as a response to my vocation, right where I am?
Prayer of Daily Remembrance:
Jesus, you have done great things for me, even in seasons I did not see them. Thank you for calling me, for forgiving me, for never forgetting me . Teach me to remember You in the little things—to live my life as one long thank You. Amen.💜
Living Gratitude to God in Everyday Life
Let St. Faustina’s humble offering inspire us to practice gratitude to God in everyday life. Not just in church, but in our dishes, our duties, our disappointments. When we remember His mercy, our vocation—however hidden—becomes radiant.
